The association

The association e-covoiturage.ch, whose head office is
in Assens, was founded in 2005 by J.-F. Wahlen with the object of offering concrete proposals for alternative transport and reducing the impact of human activities on the
environment. It has a website where users can put online and search trip advertisements. This
non-profit association is recognized to be in the public interest since it offers a free service
to the population.

Activities

The association’s main aim is to allow a maximum
number of people to have access to practical and affordable means of transport with a
reduced impact on the environment.

Carpooling also addresses major concerns linked to
traffic jams, optimal use of parking areas and free flow of traffic.

This leads us to work closely with numerous events in
Switzerland in order to promote carpooling among festival goers (e.g. Paléo Nyon, Montreux
Jazz, Rock oz’Arènes, etc.). By ad hoc presence at events and the exchange of web
links, we ensure visitors are informed of the advantages of carpooling and can group to travel
together. In 2011, some 90 events worked with the association.

e-covoiturage.ch also proposes a personalized service
for businesses and communities.

Some fifty of these, including Bobst, Nestlé, Siemens
and Richemont, have already opted for such a platform and offer this service to their
employees. Shared carpooling platforms have been created for 29 communes in the Glâne-Veveyse
Region (glane-veveysecovoiturage.ch) and for 9 businesses and institutions in
Neuchâtel (neuchatelcovoiturage.ch).

A few key figures

With more than 9000 registered users and close to 2500 online trips, www.e-covoiturage.ch is the most developed carpooling platform in
French-speaking Switzerland. More than 470 communes scattered throughout the country propose a
link to the platform on their website and each month the website receives several thousand visits
from those seeking or putting online trip announcements.

A constant challenge

e-covoiturage.ch is counting on continued development
in order to propose one of the most attractive platforms, whilst ensuring a free service.
A brand new version of the site has been online since 1 July 2011 offering new tools, such as a
geotracking function for searching and proposing trips, a system for evaluating co-passengers
and an interactive discussion forum.
