Clinique Bois-Cerf: Beginning to build for the future - Nov 8, 2010

The Hirslanden Private Hospital Group is investing 28 million francs in new building projects

Lausanne, 3 November 2010: The Clinique Bois-Cerf in Lausanne is building a new Radiotherapy Centre and a new, extended Radiology Centre. The two building projects have an investment volume of 28 million francs. The official opening act of the Domino building project took place today as the first spadeful of earth was turned.

The Clinique Bois-Cerf is planning to finish the extension to the Radiology Centre by the end of 2011. The enhanced range of services will particularly strengthen the specialist areas of orthopaedics and sports medicine. The Physiotherapy Department will also be extended. The opening of the new Radiotherapy Centre, which is also in the Clinique Bois-Cerf, is scheduled for the end of 2012. With this new Radiotherapy Centre, Hirslanden Lausanne, consisting of the Cliniques Bois-Cerf and Cecil, wants to consolidate its position in the area of oncology in the canton of Vaud. Jean-Marc Zumwald, Director of the Clinique Bois-Cerf: “The investment of 28 million francs will make a modern infrastructure available to the patients, doctors and personnel, allowing holistic patient care.”

Supporting measures

The two building projects, the Radiology Centre and the Radiotherapy Centre, are both located underground in the former military hospital, whose extensive areas can be optimally utilised. As supporting measures, the Clinique Bois-Cerf is planning new parking spaces and the planting of new trees in the adjacent park areas. An innovative mobility concept “Bois-Cerf” is also planned for patient transfer within Lausanne.

Sustainable investment strategy

With the two new, large building projects, Hirslanden Lausanne is consolidating the areas of orthopaedics, rehabilitation and oncology and thus its presence in the healthcare region of Vaud. Over the coming years, the Hirslanden Private Hospital Group is going to invest more than 200 million francs in the extension of existing hospitals. Hirslanden is following a consistent and sustainable investment strategy and is investing an average of 10 per cent of its total turnover in the major areas of maintenance, replacement, new acquisitions and extension projects.
